Fenerbahce Worldwide
Hey everyone, first of all - good luck against Fenerbahce. smile.gif Second, I know it isn't always easy to find Fenerbahce information in English, but I wanted to let you know that there is a Fenerbahce website in English, Portugese, and Turkish (with Spanish and Arabic coming soon) - www.fenerbahceworldwide.org.

I started this website in July 2006 because I'm not Turkish and also found it difficult to follow the team if you do not speak Turkish. We've been covering the upcoming game and will have previews, analysis, and more on both teams in the coming days. Our website also has photo galleries, etc. Please check it out if you get a chance - you can also register for a free account (it takes about 30 seconds) and leave comments and chat with other Fenerbahce fans.

Gracias, mis amigos de Espana! smile.gif

Just a quick question, since we are going there from saturday ¿can you recommend any nice places to go out on saturday night? I´ve reading quite a lot and seems to be few night clubs, especially at pera (funny because that´s my nickname for my friends)

Will have a look now at your web page

Thank you!

Hey guys, thanks for the kind wishes. I appreciate you welcoming me - there is very little information on Fenerbahce in English and I thought you may want to read about your upcoming opponent if you speak English. Also, we are adding Spanish to the website soon, but it is not ready yet.

Lapera, do you know where in Istanbul you are staying? The Fenerbahce stadium is on the Asian side of Istanbul in an area called Kadikoy. It's a nice place but is a quieter area of the city. There are lots of nice restaurants and shops here, and there is a fantastic pub next to the stadium called "MacKolic" (pronounced "Match Ko-leek"). It's a great place to get a beer and some good food.

If you're looking for good dance clubs, etc., you will want to go over to the European side. You can take a ferry across the Bosphorous and it only takes about 15 minutes by boat. You'll want to go to Taksim Square (pronounced Tahk-seem) and also to Besiktas, which is very close by. There is a popular street near Taksim called "Istiklal" which is pronounced as you would pronounce it in Espanol. You will find a lot of clubs and shops around Istiklal Street. Beyoglu (pronounced Be-oh-loo) and Ortakoy are also great places to visit.

Most of the clubs and tourist areas are on the European side, but Fenerbahce is located on the Asian side. You will find it cheaper to stay on the Asian side and I personally like it better - there is plenty to do there and lots of nice restaurants. If you are on the Asian side, keep in mind that you are in Fener territory. Most people will probably be very courteous to you, but there are some idiots in every fanbase. Also, Sevilla's colors are the same colors as our rivals - Galatasaray. Just be careful wearing your Sevilla kit or scarf on the Asian side. Most people will want to stop to talk and wish you well, but like I said - every group has its share of jackasses.

Let me know if you want more specific information. I hope you have a fantastic time in Istanbul and a safe trip!

Thanks for the info, mate!

Don´t worry about wearing scarfs and sevilla shirts, i though about not wearing them until inside the stadium since I don´t know much about how safe it is in there. In Spain it´s ok cause i, more or less, know when to take extra precaution, but in Istanbul know nothing, so i rather take that extra safety messure. As you say there is a small percentage of stupid people everywhere, just need to be lucky not to bump into them!

Really looking forward to the trip. I´ve seen some videos of the fenerbahce supporters on the net and the atmosphere looks amazing. I don´t think many sevilla supporters are going so we will have to shout really loud so our voices are heard.

I´ve already registered on your web so I am going to leave a message there.

Thanks again!

Well, change of mind, I´ve seen the weather forecast in Istanbul for the next days and somedays the highest temperature is 0 degress and minus 3!!!! so I am going to be wearing my Sevilla FC red wolly hat, hopefully nobody will notice the big Sevilla Badge and won´t read sevilla futbol club writen in the back biggrin.gif
I registered in your website but couldn´t find anywhere like a chatroom, forum, message board....
Fenerbahce Worldwide
Lapera, we are launching a forum / message board on the website hopefully el fin de semana. We have to work out some of the details.

Yes, the weather has turned very cold and snowy in Istanbul. 30 centimeters of snow on the ground now. Hopefully the pitch will be in good shape before Wednesday.
